From AI Vision to AI Value

The challenge facing Financial Services organisations today is not creating an AI vision. It is turning that vision into measurable business value.
This was the central theme of a recent executive roundtable hosted by Change Makers, bringing together senior Financial Services leaders from Amsterdam and Brussels to discuss the realities of scaling AI within highly regulated environments.
The conversation highlighted a growing challenge facing many organisations. While AI has become a strategic priority at the C-level, there remains a significant gap between ambition and execution. Leaders around the table agreed that the issue is rarely a lack of ideas. Instead, organisations are struggling with alignment, ownership, and maintaining focus on the initiatives that matter most.
Many businesses have invested heavily in AI programmes, yet value often becomes diluted across multiple competing projects. Rather than accelerating outcomes, too many initiatives can create complexity, slow decision-making, and make it difficult to demonstrate tangible business impact.
One of the strongest themes to emerge from the discussion was the importance of executive engagement. Organisations making the greatest progress are those where leadership teams have aligned around a small number of high-value priorities. By creating clear ownership, aligning incentives, and establishing operating models that connect strategy directly to outcomes, businesses are far more likely to realise the value of their AI investments.
The discussion also reinforced that successful AI transformation is not primarily a technology challenge. It is a business challenge. While the technology continues to evolve rapidly, competitive advantage is increasingly determined by an organisation's ability to align people, processes, and priorities behind a shared objective.
For marketing, technology, and business leaders alike, the message was clear.
Organisations do not need more AI initiatives. They need greater focus, stronger executive sponsorship, and a disciplined approach to execution. The companies that can bridge the gap between strategy and delivery will be best positioned to capture sustainable value from AI.
As with many of our thought leadership discussions, the key takeaway was simple: vision is important, but value is earned through alignment, focus, and leadership.
